I wrote a story back in Dec 2020 saying the military isn’t for your protection, after a 738 billion dollar defense spending bill passed with the usual bipartisan report. https://theecksfactordefense.medium.com/the-military-isnt-for-your-protection-1b4fb9eea9b0 This year’s bill passed under Biden and the Democrat’s, ostensibly ‘the left’ was for 770 Billion dollars or so, and it had, once again, bipartisan support.
My point at the time was that a country concerned with protecting its citizenry wouldn’t have callously allowed over 200,000 Americans to die from a preventable disease. 600,000 lost lives later this point echoes home all the more forcefully. And as we lose over 2k lives a day the federal government shows no signs of urgency in doing anything to make our lives better. The fact that this is under ‘empathetic’ Joe Biden and not the ‘cruel, callous’ Trump doesn’t change the truth. If Joe Biden cares, he is doing a terrible job of showing it. And when a bill that could have made lives better crashed in flames in either intentional self sabotage or the worst ability at deal making I’ve seen in a president, the military got over three quarters of a trillion dollars…just for one year’s spending.
