We have a Democratic president so why don’t we have a Democrat appointed head of the FBI? Instead we have a Trump appointee Christopher Wray, matching the Trump appointee destroying the Post Office Louis DeJoy.

I asked this question on Twitter and I received responses that Directors typically serve a ten year term. This is absolutely not true. There is a CAP of ten years, but it is not a ten year term. The cap was imposed after Hoover made himself King of the Intelligence Community for close to 48 years. Committing however many abuses you care to name.

Leaving out the acting directors we have

Christor Wray 2017 to present (5 years)
James Comey 2013 to 2017 (4 years)
Robert Meuller 2001 to 2013 (12 years, legislature extended his term)
Louis Freeh (1993 to 2001) 8 years
William Sessions (1987 to 1993) 6 years
William Webster (1978 to 1987) 9 years
Clarence Kelley (1973 to 1978) 5 years
J Edgar Hoover (1924 to 1972) 48 years

So a quick perusal shows that no Republican since Reagan has retained a Democrat FBI director. But Obama had a Republican appointed Director from 2008 to 2013 and then appointed James Comey, a Republican who did…
