I have been wondering for a while what Democrats are for? By which I mean what purpose do they serve to the Donor class that gives them the money they need to place the T.V. ads that allow them to occasionally win congressional seats?
First, Biden and Dems indeed do receive money from large Corporations. The Insurance money went more to Biden than Trump by about a million dollars. Wall Street also gave more money to Dems than Republicans in 2020. Now this might have been because polls indicated a strong year for Dems (until the poll defying 27 out of 27 toss up races went to Republicans, but you can read some of my other articles for that) and they wanted to get on the good side of the likely winners. But I think it’s more than that. I think the Donor class sees a purpose in both Dems and Republicans.
There are some that argue that Democrats and Republicans are the same, that the Dem party is there to lose like the Washington Generals. I don’t think that’s true. I think the Democratic party has a significant role to play. They are the stewards. The Captains that can steer the ship. Government hating zealots are fine for relatively calm times, cutting regulation and shrinking government (except the military) to make life easier and more profitable for the billionaires and large corporations.
