Covid invaded the U.S. like a foreign country. It killed a million people. And initially our government, federal and local helped us combat it. Mask mandates, money to compensate for lost work, a sped up vaccine process.
And then, our governments surrendered. Facing popular backlash, assisted by amoral Republican politicians made resistance untenable. And so, with 2k a week dying for the last two months in the U.S. our governments, federal and local provides no protection, no assistance. If this was a foreign invasion, our government has effectively said ‘we surrender, do whatever you want. Burn the cities, torture the populace, just leave us alone.”
And that sucks. I feel abandoned. I do not have the resources to combat the most pernicious virus in a century on my own. Also I want my taxes back.
