Jenn Budd, a former Border Patrol agent, has an extensive history of calling out malfeasance on the border.
She has also suggested that the Border Patrol is a rogue agency. Certainly their union hasn’t shied away from the political arena, throwing their weight behind Trump and not shying away from attacking Biden, even after the election.
Recently it has come to light that the Border Patrol was investigating journalists without authorization. According to a Dec 11, 2021 article from ABC news “A special Customs and Border Protection unit used sensitive government databases intended to track terrorists to investigate as many as 20 U.S.-based journalists, including a Pulitzer Prize-winning Associated Press reporter, according to a federal watchdog.”
Despite several agents being referred to DOJ for possible criminal prosecution, the DOJ declined to prosecute.
