I’m a strong believer in jokes. A good joke is social capital. When we’re stuck in a group waiting, as we all inevitably are, a good joke can break the tension.

Of course, it’s important to match the joke to the occasion and have a joke fit for every audience. A limerick about a certain bartender at Yale is not something to break out while waiting on a training on sexual harassment per se.
