As last as January 5th in the runoff election Dems were promising 2k survival checks. As of this writing we are still waiting on $1400.00 dollar survival checks. My mom wants to know why.
I’m a political junkie. I read about it. I watch youtube videos about it. I write about it. So yes, I’ve heard the mathematical arguments and read the fact check and Snopes says that the claim that Biden lied about 2k checks is mostly false. I’ve also heard people claim that the reduction by 600, while strictly true is a public relations nightmare and a self inflicted wound by the Dems.
So I decided to see what the layman thought, or in this case my Mom. Now she is not a political junkie, though she’s better informed than some since I tend to rant during our biweekly phone calls. She’s also a Democrat and I asked her if she understood why they were arguing about $1400 checks instead of $2000. In one of her more honest moments she hesitated, then admitted, somewhat embarrassed, “No.”
Now I realize that’s the most anecdotal of anecdotal evidence. So I encourage you other political junkies reading this ask your own mothers. Make it a nationwide experiment.
So you Dem establishment types, with your wonky policy experts, was saving $600 worth the perception that you broke your campaign promises? It didn’t get you the fig leaf of bipartisan that you seem to crave like heroin, not a single Republican senator broke ranks to vote on the bill. So as the Romans would say ‘Cui Bono?’ And since it’s not the Dem’s election chances, not the American people, and not my Mom, like usual it must be the Donor class who give establishment Dems, who are definitely addicted to Super PAC money, their marching orders. Get clean Dems, or get swept.
