Me/Her stories: The First Date

Me: I’m about a week away from falling in love with you.
Her: (sadly) I know.
Me: I’m not happy about this.
(she kisses me on the cheek)
Me: Okay, I’m happy about this.

I dated a girl who will remain nameless out of respect for her privacy. The relationship was very much a conflict of very different personalities, and to this day I’m not sure it was good for either of us, though I very much miss her and hope we get back together someday, more than just about anything. Anyway, through the good, the bad and the ugly the banter was always first rate. And throughout the relationship I would post the highlights on facebook with the vague attributions of Me and Her.

We always joked that we would collect them in a book at some point but didn’t, and now 2 years later I’ve decided to post them as articles on Medium.

This was from our first date. I had known her a long time ago, and for once we were both single at the same time. (To clarify I’m usually single but she was rarely so) I invited her to a stand up comedy show I was producing and performing at because I figured at absolute worst it would be an additional audience member.
