Corporate Dems in Nevada Do It Again

Moderate Dems have made a living preaching party unity to Progressives as they try to accomplish substantive change. Even when Progressives feel robbed and a conservative Dem like Biden emerges from the primary, once again unity was preached to stop Trump. But when the shoe is on the other foot and Progressives win the elections what then of unity?

In Nevada at least the answer is clear. Unity can suck it. When the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democratic party swept elections and took over the Democratic party, the establishment Democratic machine quit en masse and looted the coffers on the way out.

Now the Nevada establishment Dems are at it again in what’s described as a “political coup”, basically saying that one of their counties will run the election in 2022 not the state Democratic party. A former Iowa state Democratic party chair says you can’t run a primary when the party is at war with itself. Which is what establishment Dems, who can’t bring themselves to fight Republicans with anything like enthusiasm in the Senate, are able to do when it comes to punching left. Nevada is both an ideal of hope that the left can take over a state party apparatus, but also a warning of how hard the establishment Dems will oppose them to the level of a party civil war.
