I look away rather than see the needle jab my flesh when I give blood. I don’t know if it hurts less when the sharp metal penetrates my vein if I don’t see it, but at least it takes me by surprise and I don’t suffer the anticipation. Sadly, when it comes to the slow death of democracy I don’t have that luxury. It is written, if not on the wall, then all over my twitter feed.

Above is a tweet by Walter Shaub, former Ethics Officer in the Trump admin. And my response trying to understand why the lack of energy. It’s obviously true that Dem politicians and many Dem voters seem quite content with letting the GOP legislate their way to permanent rule in 17 states.

And I am not happy about it. But more than just being one of the many Cassandras chanting our warnings as the lambs ignore us on the way to the slaughterhouse, I want to know why. I don’t…
