Bits and Bobs

I find it interesting the bits and bobs of skills and knowledge we pick up from other people. For example, a random person told me about substitute teaching when I was trying to flirt with her and that ended up being my job for the next two years.

Or my ex-gf Chelse who smashed my heart into a thousand tiny little pieces but also taught me how to use clippers and that saved me around 3k dollars in haircuts over the next ten years.

Or the novel by Tim Pratt that gave me the very useful advice of ‘walk wide around corners’ and saved me from many a collision at the 24 hour fitness, back when indoor gyms were a thing, in the before times.

Do you have any oddments of knowledge you picked up in a random place? Please drop them in the comments. Maybe they might help someone else in an unusual set of circumstances, somewhere down the line.
