Bill Maher has said that “student loan forgiveness is a loser issue.” I think he’s wrong on this. But then he compounded his mistake by saying that to Bernie Sander’s face. And then he got Bern’d.

Bill Maher challenges Bernie with a poll that says students intend to use money from student loan forgiveness on vacations and luxuries. Which Bill says makes the issue wrong. Because apparently all saved money needs to be spent on subsistence or it’s not deserved.
And then Bernie roars back that he doesn’t know that poll but he does know that there was a trillion dollars giveaway to the richest 1 percent in terms of tax cuts. That the price of college has increased tenfold since he and Bill Maher went to school. That the military budget is a give away to defense contractors. And that the generations laden with student debt deserve a break. And at 2:59, his body language reading complete submission, Bill Maher meekly agrees saying “You’re absolutely right.”
