I just want to rant a bit about the Biden admin abandoning the $15/hr minimum wage. And don’t tell me “but the parliamentarian” because this issue has come up before. In 2001 the parliamentarian defied the GOP on tax cuts and guess how those Constitution loving Americans, the ones who weep about activist judges and praise ‘the originalism’ of their Supreme Court justices, reacted? They fired the fucker.
So why on Earth is Harris (and Biden who we think has some influence with her) unable to even overrule the parliamentarian, let alone fire him? Because they didn’t want the $15/hr minimum wage in the first place. Like a guy in the bar telling his friends to hold him back as he pretends to lunge forward and get in the fight, they are happy to be prevented from doing what they desperately don’t want to do. Joe Biden’s never been a progressive. He was brought out of retirement by GOP donors and media moguls who were scared shit of both Bernie and Trump (but more Bernie). He is there to be safe, and not to keep you safe, to keep them safe from you. And they care more about their donors than voters, because they believe TV money will trump policy when it comes to winning primaries. And so far, they’re not wrong.
