On April 1 2021 Biden’s chief of staff Ron Klain announced there would be a memo prepared on whether Biden had the power to forgive student loans. This was extremely appropriate because: April Fools!
Klain said the review would take a few weeks. April Fools!
It is only now in the public domain, in the loosest possible use of that term, because The Debt Collective, a debtor’s union filed a FOIA request and was provided a copy of the Memo.
So we can now at long last see the memo right? April Fools!
The entire memo is redacted. Not one word is available to the public to peruse.
If FOIA is a sunshine law, than this is a tiny little stream of sunlight through closed blinds. Except you know…less.
This is the Biden’s admin showing their approach to transparency is the same as the Trump admin. Like Logan Roy, they are telling the public to “Fuck Off.”
