Edmund felt his hopes soar as the succubus stooped towards him.

Then his stomach dropped as Kendra flew past him without a word and instead flew into Phil pushing the grey ogre into the concrete wall, sending cracks spidering around them.

“What the hell were you thinking” she shouted with her hand around his throat.

“….urk” he tried to say.

“There we are, I had just rescued my lovely dark haired mage from plummeting into shark infested waters, her head is on my breast and she’s saying “My hero” and what happens then?”

“A hot flash fan fiction?” Phil guessed as she allowed him a hint of breath by easing her grip.

“No” she said bringing another gasp as she tightened her hand on his throat. “Instead I hear from another demon that there’s a Beholder, a giant eyeball with fantastic and deadly magical powers, go rampaging through Megan’s kingdom. And when I said surely Phil and Edmund are on the job with their crew of clowns to stop it…”

Wisely Tom and Stoppard didn’t object to the term at this point.

“…I’m informed that you idiots had released it and were chasing it around with wooden sticks saying something about ‘Beholder Baseball.’
