“We’ll discuss your promotion and the requisite intensive training on making sergeant later” Edmund said with a wicked grin of his own. He took off at a run toward the dark elf sorceress whose back was turned only to have the world turn golden light as a spray of mystical energy washed over him.

Stoppard who’d been shortly behind him spun around twice and flopped to the ground. Edmund felt dizzy but was able to keep his feet. Somehow he’d raised his sword on instinct and as was its raison d’etre it had nullified some of the magical force of the spell.

“Stay away from her” Amy shouted. “She may be a man-stealing sociopathic death priestess, but she’s our man-stealing sociopathic death priestess.” Gold sparks danced in her eyes and golden fire coated her hands.

“Awwww” Lorelei said glancing back.

“Amy I didn’t know you cared. And I’m glad to see our lessons are paying off.”

Amy blushed furiously.

“Amy” Helen sing songed, delighted at her friend’s embarrassment. “That’s a very deep blush, even for you. What exactly has she been teaching you in these lessons?”

“Magic’ Amy mumbled.

“That’s not embarrassing. What’s got you blushing? How exactly does she teach you this magic?”
