Backstabbed by Dem Establishment Once Again

Progressives managed to hold the line and forced Nancy Pelosi to cancel a vote on a 1.5 trillion dollar infrastructure package. The Guardian, in a Sept 30th article said “Nancy Pelosi, postponed a planned vote on a trillion-dollar infrastructure package on Thursday night a stinging defeat after progressives threatened to revolt and Democratic leaders failed to reach an agreement with centrists holdouts…”.

This is being framed as a progressive victory, and the praises are being sung of squad members AOC and Ilhan Omar, as they should be. However, what I don’t think is being emphasized enough, is the Dem establishment, Nancy Pelosi in particular attempted to sell Progressives, the Left and the American people down the river…again.

After repeated promises that the bills would be voted on together by…um Nancy Pelosi, as reported by CNN way back in June 24, 2021. Nancy Pelosi in fact said “”There ain’t gonna be no bipartisan bill, unless we have a reconciliation bill,” she said. “As I said, there won’t be an infrastructure bill, unless we have a reconciliation bill. Plain and simple. In fact, I use the word ain’t. There ain’t going to be an infrastructure bill, unless we have the reconciliation bill passed by the United States Senate,” she reiterated, as per the same CNN article.

There was at the time skepticism from Progressives and the Left. The Young Turks spoke about it on their youtube program, predicting that they would find a reason to pass the Bipartisan bill that the YT program characterized as a corporate handout, and then once that was passed they would find a way to water down or nix the 3.5 Trillion reconciliation bill.
